Virgins from Hell

Virgins From HellIndonesia has amused the trash movie fanatics with totally demented action vehicles, like Lady Terminator and Dangerous Seductress. But what can one expect from film called Virgins from Hell, where team of beautiful female bikers are being kidnapped by drug cartel which then begin to turn women to sex slaves with their brand new drug? Well, something extraordinary, of course!

Ackyl Anwari, the director is on the right track since there are really no wasted elements here. The script is delightfully brainless, film has a lot of female beauty with eye-pleasing short skirts, the villains happen to be breathtakingly laughable and in the same time, the rhythm of action never loses its pace. Unfortunately it is also the reason for Virgins from Hell going dull from time to time. When it's the same gear from beginning to the end, it comes a little bit dull.

There is no lack of violence, although the main share of it is represented with aimless gunfiring. The special effect makers had their chance to show their skills with bubbling skin and exploding heads, though. English language dubbing is hilarious, especially when the villains moan during the fist fight scenes. One of the delighting details in the diverse gallery of characters is the lesbian, robust warden - the familiar character in more straight-forward Women In Prison- films.

All in all, Virgins from Hell doesn't have major faults in it. But when the very starting point is so lunatic, the rest of the film doesn't

succeed to redeem the further expectations. Some fighting scenes turn up so long, that the FFW button of remote control becomes unusually attractive. The eye-candy and craziness can't be passed by, though. Despite the apparent faults, Virgins from Hell is part of the genre that are not produced anymore. You just must admire the glaring colours and fat moustaches, which begin to haunt your mind after a while.

Mondo Macabro DVD release is worth of every dime, since it contains also other disc with 70 minutes of Rapi Films' trailers! Also featured is the 25-minute documentary about history of Indonesian exploitation movies (with Barry Prima and Tjut Dalil). All this with informative text files and familiar high-class technical quality (which is of course comparative to rarity of films and their prints) makes the Mondo Macabro release once again definite journey to extraordinary world cinema.
